Some people believe this would be a luxury, some even believe that suffering gets them ahead in life. It’s not their fault.
Western society has thrived on people who neglect their own needs for the betterment of the bottom line. That is, until these people burn out, become ill and start missing work, and that’s when a younger, more vibrant being comes along to replace the weaker model. Cue the cycle repeating…
THAT’S JUST MESSED UP!!!
“People not loving me isn’t the problem. Me not loving myself is.”
The last post I shared with you was about self love and how we support loving ourselves. Some points bear repeating, especially the point of self-care.
Self-care is a crucial part of our existence. It’s non-negotiable.
An investment in your health is the difference between disease and wellness.
Today, screw that, EVERYDAY, you need to do something that your future self will thank you for.
And let me bust a few self-care myths for you.
It’s not complicated. It’s not expensive. It’s not time consuming.
Simply making small shifts in your in your daily routine and your awareness make a GIANT impact on your wellbeing.
Here’s the short n’ sweet of a daily practice:
NOURISH your body!
Choose foods that support your energetic being…and yes, this means MOSTLY PLANTS! And stop snacking! Your body needs to rest to digest between meals. Instead of shoving more food into your pie hole, hydrate. So many times the mind reaches for food when in actuality, the body is thirsty. Pay attention and honor your body’s needs.
SYNC up to the natural rhythm of the day and the seasons.
Our ability to digest food is greatest mid-day…so maintain harmony with your body and satiate your true hunger with a larger lunch and a smaller dinner. Notice the foods that are naturally and readily available during the different seasons. Mother nature works really hard to give you exactly what you need at the appropriate time. Don’t mess with Mother Nature.
MOVE your body!
When your body is stagnant, so is energy…disease LOVES stagnation. Don’t let that shit take up residence in you!
Take care of ALL parts!
Exercise your eyes, then give your eyes a break. Massage your ears, then close your ears and give your ears a break. Scrape your tongue…get rid of accumulated crap in your mouth. Yeah…ICK!
If only for a minute, take time to slow down, and check in with your breath. Notice sensations through your body. Do you feel tense? Notice the energy in the body. Do you feel integrated? Notice your thoughts. Do you feel connected? START TO BECOME AWARE!
LOVE your body!
Every cell in your body is aware of your thoughts…BE NICE! Massage your body, appreciate your body, be grateful for this magnificent machine that you are blessed to live and experience this amazing life in. Your body is the vehicle in which we’re carried through life. It WILL break down if you don’t take care of it.
So many critical functions of the body happen while we sleep. Stop borrowing time from tomorrow to get shit done. Your system becomes depleted and running around exhausted is putting you in a deficit and is super inefficient. Enjoy winding down in the evening, allow fatigue to set in, go to bed a little earlier. You’ll have a stronger immune system, more clarity, increased energy and you’ll wiz through your to-do list with time to spare.
Creating habits around self care is pivotal in up-leveling your health. You become priority. You thrive in extraordinary health. You awaken to your full potential.
Are you ready to awaken to your full potential, unleash your inner badass, and flip your idea that self-care and wellbeing is a luxury on its ass so you can set the foundation for your health to thrive?
